What a week. What a month. What a life! It’s rushing by at warp speed!

The wedding this weekend went great. Beautiful church, beautiful bride = great photos. As all weddings do - there were a few slight hitches.. but I did my job(s) and learned a lot and spent the latter half of the reception dancing the night away with friends and family. It’s not often that I’ll be able to work a wedding and end the job on the dance floor! I think I may just be one of the last people to clear the dance floor, as a matter of fact.. so there! ;)

I got home late, went to bed late and it took me a while to wind down because I hurt SO bad after being on my feet for 12 hours, dancing for several of those. Wow, I’m getting old. My body let me know.

As a result, I woke late this morning and rushed to my aunt’s place where we met to go over her photos from the day- and let me just say that it’s amazing to work with my family! We’ve done several shoots together now and it’s been a blast. I know I can count on my aunts to do their jobs and have a smile on their faces all the while. I’m so grateful I had the help- since the wedding was at an old-school Catholic church there were quite a few restrictions and if it weren’t for my aunts and their assistance there are a lot of shots I would have missed.

We also wrapped up some other business from a previous shoot and then my aunty K and I went looking for retail space. We’re seriously considering opening up shop. It’s scary with the economy the way it is now- but we have a pretty good plan (we hope) and it just might work out.

We looked at several spaces I liked a lot. And then I had a blood orange gelato. Yum. :P

This evening the bride came by and we wrapped up some business too… and now I’m nursing a sick four-year-old and packing Michael up for sixth grade camp.

This week should be a little more tame than the last few… I don’t have any appointments or meetings to cut into my regular work schedule. I am working on quite a few projects, but we’re in the end-stages so I’ll hopefully be wrapping some things up by the end of the week. I do have to develop several hundred photos this week- but I still probably won’t have to work 12 and 14 hour days. Last week those hours really beat me up.

My goal is to finish all of my current projects by the first week of November and take a two month break from web design. I have several photo shoots booked and I’m hoping my momentum in this field will keep me going (financially) through the holidays. It would be nice. Because I’d very much like to be able to dedicate some real time and thought to my new store, and to get my foot fixed. That tumor (neuroma) in my right foot is KILLING me. If I’m going to be hiking all over creation to take beautiful portraits, or to be able to endure day long weddings- it has to be done.

Halloween is coming up. And Christmas, before we know it. So many things to keep up with in this stage of my life. Here I come, world!

P.S. Please, if you are the praying type, say a little prayer for Michael- he’s not so good at adjusting and any divergence from his usual schedule tends to end in chaos… and we’d like him to not only make it through sixth grade camp but have a good time. And don’t forget Hadley and her family. My thoughts and prayers never leave them now.
