Today I got to work late because Valerie and Hannah came by to BS. That was a nicer than usual way to start my work day. I had to rush a bit this afternoon to get my to-do list done but I kinda think that was good for me, I couldn’t justify spending a little more time on Facebook or Flickr or Myspace or Twitter before I got to it. And thus, my to-do list was checked off and I got off work and got to chill a bit this afternoon.
I played with Makaya today, who ended up living with my parents and Hannah, by the way. I knew my dad would fall in love with her as soon as he saw her. She’s so fun. And cute. I promise I’ll take a photo of Makaya for you soon. That one-brown-eye-one-blue-eye thing is just too adorable to pass by with a camera in hand.
I ate dinner with the kids and watered and hung out with my cousin and enjoyed my evening. We got the kids full STAR reports and were very pleased with the results. Both big kids are in the top 1% of the state in many areas, and in the top 5% pretty much across the board. Nothing says Phaedra Is A Rockstar like badass test scores from both of the school-age kids.
The only icky thing that happened is we heard of another death in the family. Not someone I’ll mourn, but someone I’ll remember. Still, can we go just one day around here without a death?
Tomorrow is a wicked day. I have a lot to get done. Thursday won’t be much easier. But I’m stoked- Friday we’re headed to Tahoe with our bestest friends, the kids and Hannah. Our last summer adventure is almost here! Huzzah.
