But I totally need a vacation from my vacation.
Like for real. Here I am, tubby and weak, having just spent two months doing literally nothing physical, and suddenly we went on three day trips (and celebrated two holidays) in one weeks time. I hiked all over, bent down, carried stuff, darted here and there- twisting every which way to snap photos, trudged through sand… and it was bliss. But now I am very, very tired. And weak. And hurty. And not complaining. Just saying.
Yesterday we went on a pretty cool day trip with the Serio’s- to two of our favorite beaches, Bean Hollow State Beach and Pomponio Beach, both just south of Half Moon Bay. It was another glorious day, almost too good to be true. It got started of a tiny bit rough- we had intended to go a bit further down the coast to see the Elephant Seal weaners, but 2 hours of deadlocked traffic changed our minds. Good thing we were in familiar territory! We knew right where to go. It was another perfect day of memories I will treasure. Bright blue skies, crashing waves, good times with good friends, beautiful views and breezes just right for flying kites. I hardly wanted to leave! You can see my photos from the day on my flickr stream. Of course.
The husband is back to work tonight. It made for a low-key Easter, which is fine by me. I hate to think of what would have happened if we had big family plans today anyways. I don’t think I would have made it. And it wasn’t just me, everyone was moving slow today. Despite our exhaustion, we dyed some more eggs this morning, got the kids dressed in their cute new matchy clothes, snapped a few photos and hunted eggs in Grandma and Grandpa’s back yard. After Joey left for work we had a quick Easter dinner consisting of ham, au gratin potatoes, green beans and deviled eggs with my parents. And then vacation was over.
Seriously though, I’m wiped. But it’s a good wiped. Really good. I can’t have asked for more this week. I needed some really good fun in a bad way.
P.S. My chickens are fine. I know it’s probably hard for anyone else to imagine why I would worry so- but I did get them back happy and healthy the morning after they escaped. And they waited until they were home to pop me out a few eggs to make up for it all. Whew.
